Opened in 1980, Original Sokos Hotel Presidentti is an iconic event venue, located next to the Kamppi Shopping Center and the Finnish Parliament House.
The hotel has 494 rooms, a restaurant and a night club, as well as a wide range of meeting and event rooms with auditoriums. The hotel will be gradually renewed during 2016-2018. The new concept is a story-driven hotel presenting an array of Finnish phenomena. The design and art direction are the work of Paola Suhonen and Ivana Helsinki, with Design Agency KOK03 oy responsible for the operational interior design.
"I wanted to incorporate a wide mood range for hotel Presidentti because the hotel should be equally interesting to the business traveller who has "seen it all", to the tourist visiting Finland and the domestic leisure traveler alike. Different mood settings can result in different experiences at each visit."
The vision for the new Presidentti is an imaginative interpretation of a modern Finland with contrasts; a country sporting luminous summer nights as well as frost and ice.
Suhonen’s interior design concept plays with Nordic moods; Scandinavian and arctic dimensions blend boldly with Finnish ones.
In the hotel winter storms, quietness, fairy-tale-like forests, world-famous Finnish guts (SISU) and midsummer come alive in unexpected ways.
